About

About Mat

In short, counsellor, personal trainer and nutrition advisor — and the one consistent person behind every Trio session.

Trio Well-Being began with something Mat noticed on the gym floor: when people got physically stronger, they didn’t just change shape — they changed how they felt.

Mathew Roderick (MBACP) is a qualified counsellor, personal trainer and nutrition advisor. His career started more than 13 years ago in personal training, working through a series of management roles — and that’s where the idea for Trio was really born. As his clients’ bodies changed, so did their minds: they were happier, more confident, more optimistic. The physical work was doing something no training plan had promised.

He couldn’t unsee it. Convinced that mental health, physical health and nutrition aren’t separate problems but one connected picture, Mat went on to qualify as a counsellor — not to leave fitness behind, but to bring all three together under one roof.

One person, the whole picture

Most wellbeing support is fragmented: a different voice every time, a referral here, an app there. Mat works the opposite way. The same practitioner, building real understanding over time — and trained to see how stress, sleep, movement and food feed into each other, because he’s qualified in all of them. It’s the model businesses already trust for their legal, HR and IT, applied to the health of their people.

Why he built Trio

Mat founded Trio Well-Being to do one thing properly: to safely, professionally and thoroughly look after every element that contributes to wellbeing — and to help people genuinely change their lives. Not a platform. Not a call centre. One qualified person who takes the time to understand you.

Accredited and accountable

Mat is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and listed with the Counselling Directory and Psychology Today. Every session is confidential, professional and fully insured.

Let’s talk

The best way to find out whether Trio is right for you or your team is a short, no-pressure conversation — and I read every enquiry myself.
